Good Bands Just Starting to Get Recognized

Uh Huh Her

Uh Huh Her is a new band (not to be confused with PJ Harveys' seventh album), but its members have formed their careers around music for quite sometime. Leisha Hailey, was in a band called The Murmers during the 90s. People praised them. They played Lilith Fair. The Murmurs changed their name to Gush around 2001. Sadly, they broke up when Leisha landed one of the lead roles on The L-Word. Just a side note, if you watch t.v., enjoy yogurt, and like expensive cars, then you probably recognize Hailey who has appeared in numerous Yoplait commercials and one for BMW. In addition, Leisha put together her own record company Marfa Records. Camila Grey, of Mellowdrone, (I hope this info is right...shes a tough person to find info on), has had her vocals all over t.v., and film. Her credits include: Something's Gotta Give, Catwoman, Nip/Tuck and Havana Nights. Besides playing the bass she also does some synth work. With their musical talents combined, their sound captures indie, with electro beats, and catchy pop lyrics. The I See Red EP is their first release...its good.

I'm not going to say much about this band except that they are absolutely amazing. If you like the 90s grunge scene, but need an added dose of contemporary vocal and instrumental progressions along with well thought out arrangements then buy their album Caravans which was released in 2006. This is one of those bands thats takes a while to get a album promoted correctly, but since MTV is plastering their name throughout their ads...maybe this is just the type of exposure young America needs to buy a decent album. If you don't want to venture out of this page then look for the Dangerbird Jukebox in the far right column and skip to Little Lover's So Polite. They will be playing here Dec 16 at the 99X Mistle Toe Jam @ the Gwinnett Center.

I don't know much about this band at all, but its worth it to make a post about them because what I've heard from them thus far is great. They are from Atlanta, making the rounds, covering the Annuals, having the Annuals cover them, promoting their newest full album I'm Like a Version Losing a Child (released 2006), and finding themselves in all sorts of places like on Conan O'Brien Oct. 31. Theres nothing like a lead singer with a shaggy beard...nothing.
I have no idea why this video wouldn't center, but the song is Wolves' At Night.
