Ryan and Feist ...What a lovely combination.

I was messing around on Ryan Adams Archive in the forums and someone mentioned that Ryan will post DRM free MP3s on August 21. The site states, "You will be able to purchase high quality (256k) MP3 downloads of Ryan Adams music directly from ryan-adams.com. These tracks will be digital rights management (DRM) free and playable on all MP3 compatible digital music devices including SanDisk, iPod, Zune, and iPhone." The forum said that this is a good thing because artists make real profits in ticket sales and merchandise sales. I agree that this is great because this cuts out the middleman. Thanks Ryan and The Cardinals...I can't wait to see what songs are going to be available. For more info check out Ryan Adams and The Cardinals News and Info.

Okay, so I just bought the new Feist album titled The Reminder. Don't ask me why I waited so long to drop a 10 on this album (that's $, for anyone who is not down with my hood ass slang). We all know the answer to that question...I'm broke as a joke and I can't lie. I ride around in my Jeep on straight entertainment hoping that my car makes it to its destination. In short, the album is amazing. Her voice is unlike any other female artist, which makes her really standout not to mention her arrangements are thought provoking. This album is more than head nod worthy. Buy it, heck buy a few! Shit, send Mom and Grandma a copy...they'll especially love a listen after church. In terms of genre she is definitely alternative, but her voice strikes me as soulful.

She plays what appears to be a 1965 Guild Starfire (pic) live on stage. I'm not sure if she is playing this guitar on the album, but if she is I can certainly hear how some of her electric chord/scale progressions have a jazzy-bluesy feel. Pitchfork has a review of The Reminder and gave her album an 8.8 out of 10 rating, which is not too shabby by any means. You can find the review here. Listen Feist, since I don't have the money, time, band, know how, or especially any of the thoughts that run through your head when you sit down to write/compose a song...I give you a 10. It's the shit; and remains in constant rotation in my car, not to mention Mom likes it. Apparently, Feist had to shut down her website due to porn spammers and the one song that remained on repeat, which reminded her of a bad commercial, so with that said, head over to her MYSPACE page which she states as, "benign and neutral" for updates or to message her any ideas. This video of Sea Lion woman took place in 2006. Feist shows she has soul. The song touches on some serious gospel, bluesy, r&b, and rock genres. Enjoy.
