Tegan and Sara offer up more than really cool haircuts.

I just bought the new Tegan and Sara album titled, The Con. I don't know what Canada is doing with the people up there, but I always stumble across an amazing band from that country andTegan and Sara are defiantly no exception. Correct me if I'm wrong, but The Con brought forth memories of an 80's New Wave feel, which includes but is not limited too: rhythmic palm mutes, awesome bass riffs, keyboards, tempos above 120, and intoxicating choruses in twin unison. The Con is one of those albums where I can chill back and listen to it all the way through without being disappointed or bored. I'm not going to lie...I do occasionally hit repeat on: I was Married, The Con, Knife Going In, Back in Your Head, Hop A Plane, Soil Soil, Burn Your Life Down, Nineteen, Floorplan, Like O Like h, Dark Come Soon...well, SHIT that's the entire album. I don't know what I so nervous about in the first place because Spinner.com did a piece on them and I was quite taken by the twins not only because their music is good and that they write all their songs (which is pretty hard to find in the music industry these days), but also because they seem like really cool, chill, funny people. Check out Spinner.com for their live podcast download (both mp3 and video formats) which includes performances of Back in Your head, The Con, Nineteen, Dark Come Soon, and an interview packed full of charming banter.

In addition, I took a few minutes to find some interesting behind the scenes footage of the girls making a few tracks off their latest record from Youtube. The videos reveal priceless moments from chatting with Mom and friends on a giant yellow phone, teasing band mates in the studio, sparkling white grape juice, chocolate covered sunflower seeds, matching plaid shirts, a mustache, and what generally took place during the making of the album. Be prepared to laugh. The dialogue between the twins and their fellow band mates could never be written.
